Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian as well as from Sri Lanka. The father of Jacqueline is Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka. There are two brothers younger than her and one older sister. The family have moved to Bahrain during the 1980s because of the Lankan turmoil and she was born and raised in Bahrain. She received a scholarship to study at the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia, after completing her education in Bahrain. Her passion for the languages and culture inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she improved on French and Arabic while learning Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. After her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world and hosted a show about Sri Lankan businesses called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of and badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore, but she came from Copenhagen. As a teenager, she played badminton in national level championships but left her professional career to become a fashion model. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin Her mother language is Konkani. Her family tree is rooted in Padukone village in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in the State of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 80s. She has a mother who runs a travel agency, also hails from this village.
